Q: Are You Insured and Licensed?
A: We are a licensed and insured Boston Moving Company, regulated by the Massachusetts State Department of Public Utility, Transportation Oversight Division: MDPU # 31507. Under state regulations, every licensed carrier is required to carry moving, cargo and liability insurance.
Q: What is Travel Time?
A: Travel Time Charge covers the time our men are in transit to your home and back to our facility after the move is completed. Rather than charge "portal to portal" for that time which can change based on traffic or weather conditions we charge a flat rate as follows: (One way)
LYNNFIELD, MALDEN, MELROSE, NORTH READING, READING, SAUGUS, STONEHAM, WAKEFIELD, WOBURN....... 1/4 hour travel time
- Greater Boston................... 1/2 hour travel time
- 12-25 miles...........................3/4 hours travel time
- 26-35 miles...........................1 hours travel time
- 36 and over..........................1 1/4hours travel time
Q: How you do estimate for a move?
A: We base our quote on the approximate numbers of hours it will take the moving crew to complete the job in a safe and efficient manner. This depends on several factors including inventory, floor, easiness of access, etc… Please, talk to us about your specific circumstances, the more information we have – the more accurate your estimate will be!
Q: How you protect my furniture from damages?
A: We wrap your furniture with special furniture pads, which are thick, quilted, mildew resistant padded blankets. We secure them with stretch wrap or tape to eliminate damages and scratches to your furniture. We also use cargo straps on our trucks to tie down and secure certain objects from shifting during transit.
Q: Should I empty my dresser drawers?
A: It is easier to move dressers when they are empty. However, if a dresser itself not super heavy, clothes may stay in the drawers. You need to remove breakables, liquids, valuables, money, jewelry and important documents. Use your best judgment and common sense.
Q: Should I pack myself or hire Boston Moving Co to do it?
A: Self-packing will save you money. If you plan to pack yourself, please watch our helpful packing tips video. Keep in mind that insurance will not cover goods packed by their owner unless the exterior of the box damaged.
Q: Will the movers dissemble and reassemble my furniture?
A: We have all the necessary tools to disassemble and reassemble your furniture if needed.
Q: Why do I need 3 (or 4 or more) movers for my move?
A: Boston Moving Co always assigns the most efficient number of movers to each move. Depending on your specific situation, we will let you know the most cost effective solution to meet your specific needs. It is usually more expensive and time consuming to under-staff a move.
Q: How you calculate labor time?
A: We only charge you for the time we actually work in quarter-hour increments. If your move takes 3 hours and 10 minutes, for example, you only pay for 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Q: What type of payment do you accept?
A: We accept: cash, postal money order, bank check, company check, major credit cards. We reserve the right to refuse to accept personal checks.
Q: How much am I expected to tip?
A: While gratuities are customary and greatly appreciated, they are not required. Our goal is to complete every job to your satisfaction. Tips are a great way to show that you appreciate the movers’ hard work. Common gratuity is $5-10 per hour, per mover.
